Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, and these credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover.

Do you follow any privacy policy?
Yes. We respect your privacy, and that very much includes your personal details. Please read our Privacy Policy page for more information.

Why remodel?
Remodeling modernizes the style of your home and makes it more comfortable and functional. It is also one of the best known ways of enhancing the longevity, usefulness and market value of your home.

How much will it cost to renovate my kitchen or bathroom?
That will depend on the features you want in your new kitchen or bathroom and the brands/models you select. For more information, please call (718) 984 0735 and ask for a free consultation.

What is wrong with hiring a handyman for my bathroom or kitchen renovation?
You are unlikely to find a handyman who has the special skills required for your remodeling or renovation work. However, if you just want someone to replace a broken drawer or change a dislocated hinge, a handyman would be just fine.

Can I use the services of a general contractor for my kitchen or bathroom remodeling?
Yes, you can, but you would be better off hiring a contractor that has expertise in kitchen and bathroom remodeling. As general contracting includes a number of subspecialties, your project is more likely to turn out well if you match the expertise of your contractor to the specific remodeling work you have in mind. For instance, you will have to ascertain that your contractor is familiar with the design requirements, specifications and building codes necessary for your remodeling project. Some contractors may be experts at flooring or framing but not so good when it comes to designing kitchens or bathrooms.

How can I ascertain that a kitchen and bath contractor knows what he is doing and is not taking me for a ride?
One way to ascertain this is to check the credentials of your contractor before starting any project. Remodeling firms need to possess a valid contractor’s license in Colorado. Ideally, the firm you are employing should adhere to industry standards and a code of ethics specified by nonprofit organizations such as NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) and NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association).

We recommend that you also browse the photo gallery and check out the projects completed recently, read the client testimonials page, and speak with one or two recent clients if possible.

Is it better to hire a big service provider or a smaller one?
That would depend on how important personalized service is to you. Generally, very large companies can treat you impersonally when your project is just one of the many waiting for completion. In our opinion, it is better to hire a kitchen and bath contractor who can provide personalized services and is more responsive to your needs.

Can’t I save money by buying my own materials?
Buying your own materials can prove to be costly in the long run, both in terms of money and time. For instance, you could buy your own fixtures and fittings and then have a plumber come and install them. However, you may end up paying extra if the fittings are not right or a component is missing for proper installation.

There is another aspect related to material purchase that needs to be looked into. Usually, the person buying the materials is required to warranty the installation to rule out any problems during use. If you are interested in a complete bathroom remodel and buy your own tubs, sinks, and tiles, you would also be responsible for warranting the installation if there is any material problem afterwards.

What is the importance of permits for remodeling projects?
Permits are required for electrical and plumbing work in kitchen and bath remodeling even when no structural wall is being changed. Other areas that need permits and scheduled inspections include installation of exhaust hoods and fans, and window replacements (many cities now require permits for window replacements). In case of doubt, please call the Building Department in your city and ask.

In our opinion, most professional contractors will want their work to be inspected so that their clients know that the work was done properly.

How relevant are contractor referral services?
Some contractor referral services are helpful. However, the contractor has to pay a fee to the referral company to get your name. This means that you are actually paying more to use the referral service. Successful kitchen and bath contractors can do without referral services to find new clients and depend on repeat business and word of mouth publicity.
